What brought you to Hub?
There are several reasons as to why the Hub was the ideal space for Julian and The Mind Group.
To begin with, many of their clients are in the CBD so the location is perfect; also, the team are mostly parents and it provides a place to concentrate away from little people.
As a startup, Hub also offered an instant atmosphere which doesn’t come with a small office.
Hub also allows plenty of space to move around and change up where you sit each day. The high ceilings were in fact one of the big selling points as Julian has an aversion to the strip lighting and foam ceiling tiles of traditional offices.
The building itself is important when making the decision to work from a coworking space, Hub Southern Cross is housed in the old mail exchange, and being a heritage listed building there are some beautiful reminders from that time; including the old lift, double opening doors at the entrance and lovely wooden and stone foyer and interiors.
Something else that drew Julian to the Hub is the community of people who currently work from the space.
People and business’ who are working from Hub truly care about what they do and none of the community are here because they have to be.
How and why did you start your business?
After working for consulting organisations for 16 years it became clear that there was a better way to run a consulting business; with clients buying specifically his services and solutions over that time, it was also clear there was a market for them.
What’s been your biggest lesson in business and/or life so far?
Your time is the most precious thing you have.
What do you find most valuable working out of Hub?
All our colleagues are remote workers and thus having a place we can all come together is important. Plus it’s a vibrant and social place to be, so it gives us the chance to feel good about where we are going for the day.
What is something you learned in the last month?
Helping people is never a waste of time.
What excites you about what you do?
It’s rewarding when you can go into a business and help a leader, team or organisation be more effective than when you found them.
What can people come and see you for?
Anything to do with leadership, coaching, culture change, strategy and influence.
