Victorian businesses are adjusting to quickly changing guidelines and business operations – to assist, Hub Australia has collated some of the best resources available from Government and business groups in the state.

Melbourne City Council |Business grants

Melbourne City Council has just announced $5 million in business grants as a response to COVID-19, specifically for small to medium-sized businesses and non-profits to “invest in online and e-commerce capabilities, take part in training and professional development, and undertake capital works.”

What they’re offering:

  • Up to $5000 for investing in online and e-commerce activities.
  • Up to $2000 for training and professional development.
  • Up to $10,000 for capital works projects (matching dollar-for-dollar) to adapt to changing conditions.

Business Victoria | Economic Survival and Jobs Package

Announced as a resource for Victorian businesses affected by COVID-19, this includes full payroll tax refunds for this financial year available to businesses with a payroll of less than $3 million. It also allows the deferment of payroll tax for the first three months of the 2020-21 financial year.

Business Victoria has also offered extensive advice on developing business continuity and recovery plans, along with more information about dealing with COVID-19.

Business Victoria | Support Fund

Along with the above package, Business Victoria has launched $500 million Business Support Fund in pursuit of keeping small businesses going and lessening the financial impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on businesses and employees.

Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) | Free Membership

VCCI is offering a 12 month membership waiver for any new entry-level membership (Networker – $350 and Essentials – $700) and credit to all current members up to $500. 

Worksafe Victoria | Advice for Businesses

Worksafe has provided a comprehensive guide on the responsibilities of businesses in a crisis such as this, along with how to control risks and limit exposure. They have also constructed a comprehensive guide for businesses on preparing for a pandemic.
