Here are some goal setting tips to get you started:

3 Tips To Start Your Year Off On The Right Foot

1. Plan for success. Write down your goals.

“When you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” You’ve probably read or heard this before.

Dr. Gail Matthews, a psychology professor at Dominican University in California, conducted a study with 267 participants that revealed that those who wrote their goals down accomplished significantly more than those who did not write their goals.
Action Step: Write down your goals! Grab a pen and paper, or fire up your favourite note-taking app and write down your goals now.

2. Get an accountability buddy.

Dr Matthews’ study also revealed that “those who sent weekly progress reports to their friend accomplished significantly more than those who had unwritten goals, wrote their goals, formulated action commitments or sent those action commitments to a friend.”
Action Step: Find someone else who is running a business and ask them to be your accountability buddy. Then commit to providing weekly updates to each other.

3. Publicly commit to your goals.

The aforementioned study also revealed that “those who sent their commitments to a friend accomplished significantly more than those who wrote action commitments or did not write their goals.”
Action step: Refer to the list of goals you wrote down earlier (you did write them down right? If not, do it now!), identify the one(s) that scares you most and share it publicly! Post it on your social media status, mention it in your next email newsletter to your clients, and tell it to your new accountability buddy.
