Hub Australia

5 min. read

In 2021, Hub Australia supported 34 social enterprises and purpose-driven businesses around Australia, providing them with workspaces and access to a coworking community to help them grow their business and impact through the Flexi-Impact program.

Our Flexi-Impact program offers a number of memberships to entrepreneurs or people part of a business working to make a positive difference to our community and environment. A Flexi-Impact membership gets you one 24/7 access pass to a Hub location from January through to December, as well as access to meeting rooms, state-of-the-art amenities, and community events.

We spoke to a couple of our 2021 recipients to find out more about their experiences with the program.

Dimitrios Papalexis, Soulgen

How did you hear about the Flexi-Impact program?

I heard about it from a friend of mine who was a Flexi-Impact member last year. I met her at Hub Hyde Park, and she told me about the opportunity.

What are your favourite things about being part of the Hub community?

There are many! To name a few, the fact that I can meet with clients and collaborators at a state-of-the-art building with amazing facilities. The media room where I can record high quality podcasts with guest speakers, and the café where I can work while having a nice coffee, and meet other members. There’s also the networking opportunities, where I get to meet other social impact entrepreneurs.

What were your biggest achievements in 2021?

Despite the lockdown, we managed to increase our client base, produce a lot of inspiring content like videos, podcasts and articles, and roll out a new online training. We expanded our offering to Canberra, and welcomed two placement students and a casual marketing assistant.

Do you have any tips or words of wisdom for people working in other purpose-driven businesses?

Know your why, your strengths, and your unique value proposition. Make sure you take advantage of existing opportunities to learn, collaborate, and grow. Surround yourself with a supportive network and find creative ways to overcome challenges, scale up, and increase your impact.

How did you hear about the Flexi-Impact program?

I heard about the program from a previous recipient who recommended it to me.

What are your favourite things about being part of the Hub community?

All of the people are super helpful and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble for them. There are also so many useful events curated to help with your business.

What were your biggest achievements in 2021?

Our biggest achievement happened earlier in the year, when we launched our podcast.

Do you have any tips or words of wisdom for people working in other purpose-driven businesses?

Attend community events like wine downs and other sessions where businesses come together to talk about what they are doing. Get to know other people in your workspace, and take advantage of the great spaces that you can work in. And, if you need advice or assistance, ask someone because they are always willing to support and help you. Keep going, no matter what.
