What is a Certified B Corporation?

Hub Australia

12th August 2021

Hub Australia is a Certified B Corporation, a for-profit business that meets the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

Certified B Corporation members form part of a global community across 50 countries. Big brands such as Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s are also B Corporations, proving that publicly traded or large companies can bring impact into not just the way they do business but why they do business.

The first step in becoming certified is the B Impact Assessment (BIA). The BIA gives Hub a framework and guide to measure success against rigorous values and responsible practices as we scale as a company. One of Hub Australia’s values is Beyond Profit, in the swirl of being a fast-growing company, it helps us know if we are walking the walk or just talking about it.

In order to become a B Corp companies must meet a minimum 80 points verified in the BIA. The assessment aims to understand and capture the impact of a business on all of its stakeholders, including its workers, suppliers, community, and the environment. It looks at best practices regarding an organisation’s mission, measurement, and governance.

Organisations need to re-certify every 3 years. Hub aims to deepen its impact as a B Corp and support our members to do the same. If you are interested in finding out how to become a Certified B Corporation connect with Hub’s qualified expert team.

Our B Corp consulting program is ready to help you and your business on the journey.
